in navolging van de beste rockband van de jaren 70, komen onze vrienden van ROME nu met een nieuwe plank.
zoals vorig seizoen op een gegeven moment de Rome Headroom verscheen buiten de normale collectie om, is er nu de ROME CHEAPTRICK!
het is dus n “goedkoop” freestyle plankje( what’s in a name…) en speciaal ontwikkeld voor de europese markt. zoals ik in een eerdere post al fijntjes schreef dat de headroom het debiele broertje was van de Agent, is dit zeg maar de Cheapass versie van de Artifact (die heb ik zelf, hiep-hoi) maar dan zonder de koperen staalkant en de nieuw voor de Artifact ontwikkelde “impact base”. verder dezelfde shape, flex en stanceopties als op de Artifact maar met n veel mooiere, wat zeg ik super print.

ja maar wacht eens even….. stel ik heb niet de artifact van dit jaar , maar die van 2 jaar geleden? die heeft niet de impact base en ook niet de koperen staalkant. GAAAAAAHAAAAAAAF dan is de cheaptrick dus gewoon de artifact van toen….. niks meer aan doen!!!!
wil je dus De gaafste plank van Rome qua freestylen en je moneyclip is leeg-achtig, koop dan de mooie cheaptrick.

en aangezien er nergens specs en plaatjes te vinden zijn op hun eigen site , heb ik ze er maar bij gepost

is een snowboard meer dan n brede ski…………….

het wellicht verrassende antwoord hierop is : JA!
in den beginne kreeg je misschien wel een beetje het gevoel dat je op n brede ski de piste afsuisde, maar snel werd duidelijk dat dat niet de gewenste resultaten opleverde. in de loop der jaren werd het-een-en-ander geëvolueerd tot wat nu een “standaard” platte plank opleverde. een 3tal jaar geleden deed BATALEON een darwiniaanse duit inde zak en kwam met de “TripleBaseTechnologie”.
rijd erg lekker vind ik persoonlijk, went heel snel en hapt minder bij rail-slides (nu nog de durf daarvoor vinden)

nou in een notendop wil dat zeggen dat er aan de zijkanten een kartelrand zit waarvan gezegd wordt dat ie ijs in poeder veranderd;je een freestyle voordeel hebt en dat je meer controle over je plank hebt.

dit klinkt natuurlijk als sherry bij n huisvrouw maar werkt het ook ?? ik zou het niet weten, maar van-horen-zeggen ende schrijven is het de moeite waard en anders kan het geen kwaad; mocht ik in de gelegenheid zijn om het te testen dan ga ik erzeker mijn mening over vellen..

maar nog mooier wordt het met de Banana technology, read it en weap it

tja, ook hier weet ik er nog niet donders veel van , maar probeer het allemaal eens uit, maak je keuze en kies uiteindelijk voor wat jezelf het lekkerst vind rijden en ook nog s in je budget past want immers wat heb je aan de meest vette duurste gear als je niet meer op wintersport kan!!

The Stash

heb je dat nou ook wel s, je zit lekker thuis en zonder er erg in te hebben kijk je naar buiten en het begint te sneeuwen.. nee? nou ik ook niet maar ik zit wel eens thuis en heel af en toe sneeuwt het wel eens. ik maak dan gelijk wilde plannen om het park/noorderplantsoen in te gaan en lekker dicht bij huis te gaan feesten, jibben op picknick tafels ,sliden op de rails naast de vijver en weet-ik-veel-wat voor trucjes je op vuilnisbakken kan doen.
nu ja, voordat ik dan mn bindingen heb vastgeschroefd is de sneeuw al gesmolten en duw ik maar weer een DVD in mn laptoppie…

waar ik op aanstuur is natuurlijk dat het leuke van het boarden in natuurlijke omgeving het onvoorspelbare is. de vaak ietwat saaie lange witte snelwegen genaamd “de piste” is leuk bij gebrek aan beter maar zeg nou eerlijk, zou het niet te gek zijn als je kon boarden op een plek waar je wildste dromen werkelijkheid worden?????

nou.. je gelooft het niet maar onze vriend Jake (de bij zelfproclamatie gekozen keizer van het snowboard imperium) Burton heeft mijn gedachten afgetapt en is aan de slag gegaan met dit mooie idee. afgelopen jaar heeft hij in Tahoe (usa) ,” The Stash” aangelegd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in een notendop is dit hetzelfde als wat ik hierboven beschreven heb, alleen dan mooier en beter. en het wordt nog leuker; komend seizoen wordt er ook in Avoriaz (frankrijk) een “The Stash” geopend. Komt dat zien..

The Test

Due to opinions expressed to Street Cents by the Canadian Snowboard Federation, the Canadian Ski Patrol System, and the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors, our testers will only use the headphones when they are on the chairlift and waiting around to ski. The experts we spoke to warned about the safety concerns when using headphones while skiing or snowboarding and warnings from the manufacturers are included in the owner’s manuals accompanying the helmets. So make sure if our test inspires you to get yourself a helmet, that you check out our safety tips at the bottom.

Street Cents hit the slopes with a group of young veteran snowboarders and asked them to compare the audio capabilities of the three leading audio capable helmets. The three snowboarders tested the helmets out at Canada Olympic Park on a very very cold day! Here’s what they had to say.
Testers’ Comments

Burton Red Hi-Fi Audio

* “Putting it on is nice and easy. It has a nice fit on the head and doesn’t wiggle around.”
* “The ears are a little low on the helmet.”
* “I really liked it a lot. It has good headphones, good sound and doesn’t crackle when you have the volume high.
* “I would actually recommend this helmet to anyone that’s starting or is pretty advanced ‘cause it’s actually really a good helmet.”

Giro Bad Lieutenant

* “This one I don’t really like. It looks like a giant salad bowl on my head.”
* “It’s big and wobbly and has a really dumb earphone plug that falls out every few seconds so I don’t get to hear my music. You have to take the helmet off every time ‘cause it’s impossible to find where the ear plug goes without taking it off.”
* “The sound crackles a lot, especially at a high volume.”

The Pro-Tec Mercenary

* “Pro-Tec is different from Burton but just as good.”
* “It’s just as light as the Burton.”
* “The earphones aren’t as thick so your ears get a little cold.”
* “Burton has a little better sound, but I like this one too.”
* “I like the brightness, colour, feel…it’s comfy…I like it a lot actually.”

The Verdict

The boys decided that the Burton helmet has the best overall fit and sound quality. But, if you’re looking for a cheaper, lightweight, good-looking helmet that works well, the Protec came in at a very close second place. However, the Giro “salad bowl” helmet was unanimously declared better fit for the kitchen then the slopes!
The Lowdown

Our testers loved the idea of being able to listen to their music on the slopes, but why were they warned against riding and rocking out at the same time? Here’s why.

The Burton product warning reads - “Headphone use may cause rider not to hear surrounding circumstances that can lead to accident and possible injury or death. Headphones will also restrict your ability to hear what your edges are doing on snow and may distract you from focusing on riding safely, which may lead to loss of control.”

Dan Genge of the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors told Street Cents that “ear phones, whether they are worn in a helmet or not, should never be on or playing music while riding. If you can’t hear someone coming up behind you, or yelling for you to get out of the way, you’re a candidate for an accident.”

While all experts understand the thrill of having music playing while on the slopes and its ability to help you feel as though you’re in your own extreme video, they all agree that losing your ability to hear the calls of others on the hill can be very dangerous.

Another issue to be aware of when you’re purchasing a helmet is whether or not your helmet meets international standards. Only put the best on your head, so look out for this coding when purchasing: CEN, Snell RS-98, S-98 ASTM F240 Snell, ASTM.

Helmets that meet these standards have at least undergone formal testing and each of the helmets Street Cents tested meet ASTM and CEN standards. Enjoy your ride!

er is een nieuwe indoor hal in duitsland.
eindelijk 1 in noord-duitsland, helaas niet in noord-nederland maar je kan niet alles hebben, tijdens mijn wintersport in Sölden afgelopen december zag ik de feestelijke opening al op de lokale tv zender en dat zag er mooi en groot uit.

het ligt zo’n 60 km van hamburg en rond de 100 van bremen, dat houdt in dat het qua afstand niet veel maakt met neuss , dus lijkt me vanaf groningen zeker de moeite waard.
aangezien dit allemaal droge feiten zijn, moet ik binnenkort maar eens heengaan om te ondervinden of het ook echt leuk is want waar het omdraait zijn de sneeuwcondities in de hal, en het wordt tijd dat ik mn helm en ruggeding eens ga uitproberen!
Dus Wordt Vervolgd…..
