This hotel looks very nice and lovely. It’s in the capitol of Tirol, surrounded by mountains. And my experience with people from Austria is that they are very friendly and helpful. But, there is one exception…

HOTEL BINDERS!

For me and my mountain loving boyfriend, I had arranged a visit to HOTEL BINDERS and stay a few days in Innsbruck. I had contacted the hotel if there was a free room, paid my deposit and never looked at some strange German word somewhere under all the information that mattered in my e-mail contact. I was really looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, when the journey came closer, something unexpected came by so I was wondering what happened if I canceled the trip and asked this question.

All I got were answers that due to the nature of the deposit they couldn’t return my money (c’mon…paying by internet isn’t that difficult!) and that I must have been informed about a cancel insurance (the strange German word had indicated this, because after my payment they suddenly translated it for me en pointed the word out for me, because it was somewhere between a whole lot of words) and they always recommended it to their guests. Yeah sure, after they had paid the money, like in my case?!

I told him about the misinformation etc. But to make a long story short, the man had cancelled my booking without any confirmation from my side, because I was just asking the question ‘what happens if…’. And that was that. I decided not to agree with all of this, because of my loss of money (€178,-), so I contacted the European consumer commission and explained everything.

They contacted the hotel, to negotiate about getting me (some of) my money back. But probably the employee was living in his own fantasy world, and told this commission that I had contacted the hotel by phone and I was speaking perfectly German and perfectly rude, so I must have understood the German information about cancellations. That’s why he wouldn’t give me (some) money back.

WTF! I have never phoned the hotel!

And why should I e-mail them in English if my German was that good ! Yeah, arschloch is the only thing that comes in mind. I don’t know if I spelled it right, but I think it comes in really handy at this point of the story. Or maybe some pity, because pathologic lying really is a disease!
But first cancelling a booking without any permission and then making up this phone call.

Be warned people. Don’t take any risks making a reservation at this hotel. I know a lot of friendly Austrian places, but this is definitely not one of them!
And who knows what kind of made up story HE has in mind for you….

Gezien wij hier op Knowboards niet altijd even ‘Romes’kleurig zijn geweest, zal ik bij deze een positieve draai aan dit fijne merk geven.
Zo’n maandje terug heb ik in beschonken toestand de Rome Detail (zusje van ‘t board van Kobb en dus volledig freestyle) gekocht incl. Rome Madison bindingen.

Afgelopen vrijdag heb ik dat lieve, bebloemde plankje eindelijk uit kunnen proberen. En ik ben op slag v’liefd!
Hij (of zij) is zo soepel! Zo flexibel en makkelijk te berijden. Een lust onder mijn voeten! Vooral omdat ik een Troop gewend ben. Die plank is veel harder en meer gericht op het freeriden en hiervoor zeker ook geschikter. Maar wanneer ik toch wat meer wil stunten en alle moed verzamel, gaat dit allemaal veel beter op mijn Roompje. Ik heb mij dan ook helemaal uitgeleefd in die hal (te neuss) en kon mijn geluk niet op. Ook de bindingen deden prima hun werk. Even wat wennen omdat ze geen capstraps hebben, maar prima te doen en een hoop minder klompvoet dan mijn emeralds. A very luxurious feeling indeed! En, het allermooiste van alles, na een hele dag vol gehups en gespring, waren deze bindingen nog helemaal k(r)ant & klaar! ;)

RIXON BOARDDOCK review

naar aanleiding van de post snowboard-ophangen , keken een trouwe schare knowboardsfans vol bewondering en afgunst hoe het technisch genie J zijn planken kon ophangen. maar wat schetst mijn verbazing, onze vriendelijke zuiderburen bleken het wiel ook al eens uitgevonden te hebben, en dit uitgewerkt en al op de markt te hebben gebracht. what about 2 zielen 1 gedachte!!
hoedan ook, de jongens van Rixon hebben kontakt opgenomen met onze crew en 2 setjes opgestuurd om te testen.
uiteraard schrijf ik daar mn bevindingen over.
door deze toch wel erg hooggespannen verwachtingen heb ik als n waar keurmeester eerst s uitgebreid een paar week naar deze goodies gestaard en uiteindelijk deze week maar besloten de spreekwoordelijke proef op de som te nemen.

over-enthousiast begon ik met boren, hop 4 gaten door mn snowboards heen immers hoe moet je anders je spul ophangen, toch?
nu ja, klasse denkwerk van Rixon, het blijkt dat je je boards niet eens hoeft te beschadigen . dus nadat ik n potje stopverf had gekocht om mn planken weer te repareren heb ik ook maar s de handleiding van hun site afgehaald.

het zijn er 2, de ene is voor verticaal ophangen (nur snowboards) en de andere voor horizontaal/verticaal (snow/wake etc. boards)
vrolijk verzamel ik de spulletjes, ik som op : 2 zakjes Rixon boarddock-gerei, een potlood (hb), meetlint,klopboor met boor 6mm, kruiskop schroevendraaier,1 timmermansoog.

de jan des bouvrie in mij zei me dat ik ze maar verticaal moest ophangen.dus onder het genot van n pijpje jupiler pils en n wodka heb ik de spullen en mn moed bijeengeraapt en woord bij daad gevoegd.

eigenlijk wijst het zich allemaal vanzelf, gaatje boren in de muur, plugje erin, schroef in bevestigingsdop aandraaien maar…!
daarna goed passen en meten, (smalste gedeelte)board tegen dop , lijntje trekken en daar 1.5 cm vanaf het 2e gat boren. ook t tweede dopje bevestigen en klaar is CASE !!

maar hier wringt de schoen, wellicht lezen we verkeerd, snappen we t niet goed of zijn er 2 linker handen in het spel, want volgens de handleiding zou je het board er in moeten schuiven, maar dat lukt mij niet.

Na een poosje soebatten heb ik 1 dop maar n heel klein stukje verder naar rechts gedaan en toen pastte het board erin, het is n kwestie van heel secuur meten dus,toen dit eenmaal gebeurd was heb ik het 2e board opgehangen.het board zakt wel n best stukje naar beneden voordat ie vast zit dus houdt daar rekening mee qua hoe hoog je de bevestigings doppen bevestigt.nu hangt t symetrisch zo goed;tranen in ogen werk!!!

concluderende vind ik het een simpel, en handig produkt om je favoriete stuk speelgoed te laten zien aan de wereld. binnen no-time heb je het opgehangen, lees de handleiding even goed, en meet goed uit !
ok , je kan ook best zelf wat inelkaar flansen zoals we zelf eerder gedaan hebben, maar waarom moeilijk doen als je voor n wel erg zacht prijsje dit kan krijgen !!
